As Eid is also the dressmaking season, I was kept quite busy by all the stitching. I made some handmade pom-poms to put on my little niece’s dress.
She loved it, so did her mother.
What about you??
Thank you to all my followers for reading and following my blog =)
When I started blogging, I used to wonder if I will reach the One year mark, or quit blogging before that, or just abandon the blog and get bored with it…but nothing as such happened. Here I am with my one year finished, and despite being extremely busy at times, I have still kept up with blogging and I really enjoy it. In fact, I want to write more, but usually I don’t have as much time as I’d like to spend blogging. In more than 365 days I have only written less than a hundred posts (still around 80). I should really get about writing a bit more posts. One every Sunday, if not more.
The credit of being able to complete one year with as much posts I have done and not abandoning blogging in between goes to my followers and blogger friends who kept encouraging me with their feedback and likes, and also inquired from me when I got snowed under work and disappeared from the blogging sphere. I feel so happy to have this circle of blog-mates, and so special to be connected to people from different parts of the world whom I barely know otherwise, but we’re connected through one passion, one hobby. It’s a different kind of social circle, different kind of friendship, a different and special kind of connection, and I must say I am honoured to have you all with me =) I hope you enjoy my blog-company as much as I do.
Alhamdulillah the parents were so satisfied with the result of their children, and so was I! It’s so gratifying to see the good result of your hard work by the grace of Allah, and seeing the children promoted to the next class.
The weather was so fine, or maybe it was my inner happiness that was making the weather feel so good. The result arrangement was done in a free festival style with stall like tents and I felt really, really happy, more than words can describe! I truly felt like I was flying around with the wind. I hope and pray that I am able to work harder and bring about better results next year by the will of Allah Almighty, Aameen!
Certificates given to students with best behaviour in my class. You can read more about the behaviour chart here.
A photo corner/booth was arranged for the children’s picture to be taken, and since I’m on the school art team I with the help of other teachers arranged it. I made some colorful 3-D stars and pasted them on a blue velvet background. It came out pretty good and colorful!
Overall, it was a very happy and relaxing day. And we also got a holiday on the next day so I felt like celebrating the result and the holiday and the great weather…in short I just felt like enjoying which mostly ends in baking. I made 50 chocolate cupcakes with orange cream cheese icing! =D
Yeah my cream cheese icing always spills over. That’s because I don’t like it too sweet so I don’t add too much icing sugar and no matter how much I think I’ve made it stiff it still isn’t that stiff and when I start piping, it starts melting all over the place! And the more I tried to make rosettes, the more it spilled over. So in the end I gave up the rosettes, and I don’t mind it at all, because of course it still tastes great!
It was also my best friend’s birthday, so I sent her some with her name on them (virtually), and then ate them for her too!
I borrowed this cupcake maker from my cousin and I love this little thing! It’s so convenient and easy to use. Makes cupcakes quickly without any mess. I want to buy one of my own too now.
A little unhealthy dose of chocolate never hurt anyone ;)
This droolicious chocolate halwa is something like a cross between chocolate pudding and brownie, and it just melts in the mouth. Oh so decadent! Everyone who tasted it (without knowing what it was) thought it was a brownie at first. Its an instant chocolate craving fulfiller =D and yes I invented so many new words just for this halwa.
The recipe has already been posted at: Chocolate Halwa
P.S. This time I didn’t have Ovaltine, so I just replaced it with more cocoa powder and I think I like the result better.
So, when I saw that I was just one post away from my 70th post, I couldn’t resist posting this even though it’s past twelve and I have a mound of test checking to do.
I’ve never had freshly baked cookies, because I don’t have an oven (it’s the top most thing on my wish list, so you know what to gift me now ;)) but I’m sure this would be the next best thing to freshly baked chocolate chip cookies – because these are instant!
Just get some store-bought chocolate chip cookies, and place them on a heater/grill (something that has a direct flame), and viola!
I’m addicted to these melt-in-the-mouth-warm-and-chewy-cookies! And of course coffee!
It’s grown quite cold here, and I’m so busy with my students that I hardly have any time for blogging. I installed a WordPress app on my mobile phone, so I could blog more frequently but even that doesn’t help me in posting, it only adds to the notification beeps I get when I’m trying to sleep!
I had a very short winter break and that is being spent in designing the cover of my school magazine. This is the first time my design will be going for print and I’m excited ^_^
Boiled eggs (Hard-boiled eggs to be specific) with whole-grain toast and a cup of coffee is by favourite winter breakfast, and these days with so little time to make breakfast this is my go-to breakfast. Although I must admit that my time for breakfast is less because usually I don’t want to get out of my blanket into the cold! And when I do come out I don’t want to wash or wet an inch of my skin, and when I do get my face washed and my teeth brushed I pray and sit in front of the heater to heat up my hands and feet and don’t want to get into a fresh freezing cold dress. In the end I’m getting late and running to make my coffee and boil the eggs and searching for a pair of socks all at the same time. But when I’m done with everything I feel it wasn’t so difficult and I feel fresh and energized for the day. Yet the next day it’s hard to start all over again. And for this reason I’ve lost all my routine of morning exercise and Qur’an recitation. I’m a desert girl and I just can’t wait for the glorious warm summers to come back! But while it’s still winter, I’m trying to enjoy it….with coffee and hot chocolate!
And chocolate chip cookies with tea or coffee!
And boiled eggs and toast!
And peas and carrots (read that as gajar ka halwa or carrot cake :P )
And oranges and apples!
And pink tea! Oh wait…why don’t I have a picture of it till now?!? Maybe because it’s so yummy it gets finished each time I make it before I can get a chance to take a picture, or maybe because it smells and looks so good that I just can’t wait to drink it up and always forget to take a picture. But my next post has to be of pink tea, before the season for it runs out!
Alhamdulillah for the countless blessings which we can enjoy in all seasons!
